How to get to Bhaktapur?
Bhaktapur, situated at about 12 KM eastward from the central Kathmandu, is easily accessible by many means.
From the airport
Travelers wishing to got down to Bhaktapur directly from Airport ( a growing trend among individual tourist and groups alike ) are recommended to take prepaid/meter taxi at the airport exit. It should not be take more than 30 minutes to get to Bhaktapur and it should not cost more than Nepalese Rupees 300/- (less than US$ 4.50).
From Kathmandu
For comfortable travelling meter Taxi would be the best means to get to Bhaktapur. In a regular traffic condition it will take between 35-50 minutes to get to Bhaktapur and it should not cost more than NRs 350/- (less than US$ 5.00).
For tourists looking for an adventurous travel, travelling by local buses could be interesting. Express Mini Buses leave from Mini Bus Park in Bagh Bazaar. Buses departing in every 10 minutes charge Rs 10/- per passenger for one-way trip.
One can also rent a motorbike or a mountain bike to get to Bhaktapur. It could be pleasant and interesting as well. On a bike it is half an hour ride and on mountain bike it should not take over 50 minutes. The advantage of hiring a bike is the extended rides to many other interesting driveways and trails beyond Bhaktapur City.
From Patan (Lalitpur)
Mini Buses leave for Bhaktapur every ½ an hour from Patan. One can get on these buses at Lagankhel Bus Park and enjoy one-way trip fro Rs. 10/-.
